Scheduling Your Indexing Work

The ideal situation for scheduling is to have the final PDF ready for indexing.

This means that the typeset text will have been completely proofread and formatted and is the version that will be submitted to the printer.

In this scenario the following applies:

Trade Books

Schedule one week to ten days before deliverable is due to your printer.

Scholarly Works

Estimate one week for every 100 pages. Thus, a typical book of 250 pages should be scheduled two-and-a-half weeks before deliverable is due to your printer.

inDocs inDexing is unique in offering the option of preliminary indexing at no extra cost.

For example, in cases where a manuscript is still in the process of being proofread or copyedited, preliminary indexing can be scheduled as soon as a working PDF is available.

This means an index can be created and sent to you for review ahead of your publishing deadline, requiring just 3-4 days to complete a repagination. The repagination will correct the locators to reflect the final page numbers and finalized format.
